Since I am currently going through a period of involuntarily chosen simplicity, I thought I would try to make my peace with my new necessary frugality by reading other people's experience. I've never been an extravagant person, and many of the "tips" in this book struck me as just common sense, but there were also some good ideas. It also made me realize that I could embrace simplicity joyfully, rather than focusing on how completely and utterly broke I am.

"The Simple Life" compiled by Larry Roth is a collection of testimonies and thoughts on frugality, simplicity and living well. The book is full of suggestions ranging from cutting coupons to dumpster diving. Each chapter is from a different author and perspective. "The Simple Life" is light yet insightful reading with a dash of humor and plenty of common cents (ha ha).

This is a rather light read, a compilation of essays from various experts on frugality. It's not really a book of how to, it's more of a celebration of frugality, and a reflection on the ways different people practice frugality. You may get a few useful ideas. Not the best book I have ever read on the subject, but worth the time, I think.

This book is a collection of stories by people living simply and frugally. I'm always trying to simplify my city-life, from saving money to time to recycling waste and finding homes for old "things" we no longer use. Some stories were humorous, some unbelieveable, but all entertaining.

A very fast read. Actually, a collection of brief articles from various frugal mavens. I really got reinforcement rather than new ideas. The only ones I skipped involved eating acorns and tofu

I wish this had an updated companion. this one is older and somewhat boring. however, the principles are still the same: simplicity, frugality & living well.

A great collection of inspiring articles about frugality and living on less. Some articles are quite eclectic (eg: *way* out there) while others are more practical.
