When I first wake up in the morning, it is definitely difficult for me to function before I’ve had my coffee. Tilly the Mole woke up and she knew today was a special day. In the excitement of trying to get her act together for the Easter Bunny, she has to find her Easter bonnet, make tea, and remember what she was trying to remember. Young readers will enjoy finding out if she can get it together in time to greet Mr. Bunny. Simple text and sweet, colorful illustrations make this book a good on [...]

Silly Tilly is featured in three holiday-themed books by Lillian Hoban. We've read all three and they are all similar in Tilly's absentmindedness and nearsightedness. Tilly is a sweet little mole and she is very kind and thoughtful, if she remembers what she is doing. This is a fun story to read aloud with younger children and it is a good choice for the Easter holiday.

I grew up reading this book, and it never failed to make me laugh, especially the line "I forgot to remember." The text is already a wonderful story that will encourage children to think outside the box. The pictures only enhance this by adding colorful, well-drawn illustrations that really showcase the story. It also teaches children that sometimes there is a perfectly reasonable explanation as to why people sometimes do silly things.

How Tilly could possibly make it through Easter without her glasses is one prediction that students could make. The different events of Tilly trying to get tea for the Easter Bunny are great prediction practice for the students.

Silly Tilly the mole, apparently her glasses give her a better memory, cause once they are lost, she has no memory. And will the Easter Bunny, remember Silly Tilly's Easter basket?

A silly Easter book. Great for students who are learning to read. Also could be used for reading with emotion.
