This is a typical librarian story. Cute, geeky, adorkable. And it's not easy to convince some geek that they're something worth waiting for, you know? But when a librarian met a determined hairdresser, there's always hope.I liked how much Phillip put effort to lure Tristan to open for him. And don't forget the two grandfathers! The effing matchmakers grandfathers and their conspiracy to bond their grandsons are cute. This is a light enjoyable read. A type of book you need to read on weekend, and [...]

4 HeartsThis book was adorable, sexy, fun and full of UST! It was the perfect curl up with the dogs and enjoy a romance on a Sunday kind of read. The meet cute between Phillip and Tristan is a bit two fold. We get the first almost meet as Phillip is on his motorcycle at a light admiring a Lamborghini and its driver. When he tries to compliment the driver, he gets a cold stare and a window rolled up. When Phillip arrives at his granddaddy Conrad’s house and meets Thomas Cooper his granddaddy’ [...]

Full review available at: optimumm/2017/10/25/reviThe Librarian’s Rake by Z. Allora is a wonderful opposites attract story. The story was well written and nicely edited. The characters were interesting, and I enjoyed how much Tristan changed when he started seeing bad boy Phillip. I also loved getting to meet both of their grandparents. They were a riot with their innuendos and trying to be matchmakers for their grandkids.I liked Tristan. He has the kind of job that I have always wanted—to w [...]

“Grandfather matchmaking fantasies aside, a quick round of sex was all there could ever be between them, and something told Phillip that Tristan wasn’t that kind of guy. Whereas Phillip was. He was strictly catch and release… usually in his mouth, and he was gone before he swallowed.”‘The Librarian’s Rake’ is my first read by Z. Allora and I can easily admit to enjoying the writing style. Seeing as I have quite the soft spot for a bad boy, I figured Tristan and I would see eye-to-e [...]

Reviewed by Jenn for Diverse Reader+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++This is a story of opposites attracting with a bit of a twist! Tristan and Phillip couldn’t be more different at first glance, but that’s what makes this book so much fun!Tristan is a librarian and a bit stuffy, his last boyfriend broke up with him for being too boring. He is very handsome and very sweet, I think he is quite perfect. You can tell Tristan wants to let loose and have fun, he just needs the right incentive. [...]

This was a cute, somewhat likable novella, especially if you’re looking for a quick mental palate cleanser. When Tristan and Phillip meet at the retirement community where their grandfathers live, they start out becoming friends. It eventually becomes more physical with both still making assumptions that the other won’t want them for more than that. The outcome is kind of predictable and they eventually navigate their lack of communication. The grandfather aspect is pretty minimal but their [...]

I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked ReadsThis is a fun and fluffy and sexy read. There is more than a nod to classic romance in this contemporary story but there is also a hint of cheeky self awareness that I absolutely loved. Tristan is a buttoned up librarian who is resigned to people thinking he’s more than a bit boring. Until his grandfather sets him up with Phillip, a motorcycle riding hair stylist with a serious Grindr habit. These two are perfect opposites and [...]

I received a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked ReadsReally good story that I completely enjoyed! It started off a tad slow with a bit of filler and inane details but picks up nicely. The characters round out and become very interesting and the story begins to fly by easily. Tristin is a buttoned up, prim librarian. He's been told he's boring by past lovers. He doesn't do hook ups and hardly ever takes chances. Philip is just the opposite. He's the hook up king. The two meet through [...]

I received a copy to review and read for Wicked ReadsThis book had potential but didn't hit the mark for me. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it. I just didn't really feel the connection between Tristan and Phillip. I loved their grandfathers, and I would have liked to see more of them in the book because I think they could have added so much more to the story and given it some life. The book was just a little bit boring to me and I felt a little let down when I was done reading it.

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Review:Rating: 4 stars out of 5I really enjoyed this story. Phillip definitely does his best to not let emotions get into his sex in order to guard his heart. Tristan has never really had a great relationship or great sex and hopes that Phillip will help him learn to be more adventurous. Both of these men just need a little push from those around them to open up to some new things.Phillip has been trying to convince himself that he is happy wi [...]

This book is a short and fun read, low on angst, high on downright cuteness and all-around romance. It paces well, the characters are well drawn, and the plot believable (even with a teensy bit of exaggeration for effect).Phillip Valentine is a hair dresser. He’s been going through a transition of sorts—one would say that he is growing up. He’s taking his job more seriously, as well as the relationships in his life. The king of Grindr hookups, Phillip has low expectations of himself and hi [...]

Review can be read at It's About The Book2.5 starsThis was my first Z. Allora book and thought I would give it a try. I have to admit that this wasn’t my style. I think I’m getting old in my 36 years. I married young (23), but before that I was wild. I’m talking Phillip wild, so why did I get creeped out by his views on sex? Yeah, I’m still wondering, too.Let me back up here for a minute. First, we have Phillip, a hairdresser with great friends and a commitment issue. He’s on every hoo [...]

Quietly Shelving Stereotypes and Preconceived Notionsrake noundated noun: rake; plural noun: rakes a fashionable or wealthy man of dissolute or promiscuous habits. When I received this ARC I was thrilled and intimidated. I have never had the opportunity to read a book before it's release. Then again I'm not a writer so putting together a review seemed like a daunting task, but here goesFirst of all I started this book with some preconceived notions of my own. Having read all of the authors other [...]

Review originally posted over at JLR: justlovereviews/2017/10/2This book was short but I really enjoyed it. I feel like the story was developed enough without being too cluttered. I don’t expect novellas to be as deep or thorough as full-length novels, so when they are, I am very happy. To be honest, I was not sure if I was going to like this book. I love the nerd/librarian thing and opposites attract but I’m not fond of the super experienced/not-experienced match-up, unless it’s done well. [...]

*Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie by Dreamspinner Press for my reading pleasure in hopes of an unbiased opinion, a review was not a requirement.*Phillip is supposed to be a bad boy hairdresser on a motorcycle who has no interest in relationships. Tristan is a librarian who is said to be boring and bookish. When the two first interact, Tristan is more a stuck-up snob. Their grandfathers seem to be developing a relationship and decide to push Tristan and Phillip together. The biggest problem the [...]

What a wonderful story! Opposites attract. It starts with the grandparents and that is a whole other side story! I'd love it if she wrote about the 2 granddads! They were a fun part of the story. The boys are so fun. I enjoyed the story so much. Z. has always had a wonderful style to her writing and this story is no different. I loved it. I loved how we got just a little bit more down the road as the story ended. That is so fun! If you want someone fun and wonderful, read this book!!

Tristan is adorable and has been very unlucky in his past boyfriends.Phillip is a bad boy in his own imagination, more likely he’s also been unlucky and his reactions are different.Together these two are so much fun and very readable. There are also charismatic secondary characters, Monique and Chris are great, but the stars of the show are the Grandads.I totally enjoyed this mainly feel good romance and by the end I did.

Stodgy, inexperienced librarian and the flamboyant, slightly-slutty stylistThis nicely smutty story includes an entertaining meeting of the shy, relatively inexperienced and conservatively appareled librarian and the flamboyant, hook-up artist excited to teach him a trick or two.3.5 stars rounded up for the theme and the wonderful interplay between semi-virginal and the slightly slutty
