DEATH OF A LOBSTER LOVER is the ninth book in the Hayley Powell Food and Cocktails Mystery series but it’s the first full-length book that I’ve read from this author. After reading a holiday anthology featuring a couple of other Cozy Mystery authors, this author was the one that stood out to me the most. What I like about Lee Hollis’ writing is the fun banter and quirky characters. There’s really no dull moments so I knew after reading that novella, I needed to read more from Lee Hollis. [...]

I have read a few of this series and enjoy them. I was disappointed with the book as the format is not one that I like. The recipes are scattered throughout the book told in a story written by Hayley Powell. This writing is below the rest of the book. Liddy's actions annoy me and I feel she was acting like "a spoil. brat".Hayley, Liddy, and Mona are spending the weekend at Salmon Cove, Maine. The weekend was a disaster from the start. The cabin was run down and had outdoor restroom and the hotel [...]

I’m at my happiest when I’m lost in the pages of a good cozy mystery. The Hayley Powell Food and Cocktails Mysteries by Lee Hollis makes me deliriously ecstatic! No . . . really! They do!When I first read that DEATH OF A LOBSTER LOVER would have protagonist Hayley Powell and her BFFs, Liddy and Mona going on a girl’s weekend, I knew that I was in for a hysterical read. I was right! LOL I don’t know how they have been friends so long without Liddy and Mona trying to kill each other!Things [...]

Death of a Lobster Lover is the ninth installment in the Hayley Powell Food and Cocktails Mystery series featuring food columnist Hayley Powell. Hayley and her best friends Liddy and Mona are taking a much needed girls weekend in Salem Cove, ME to enjoy the town's Lobster Festival.Hoping that the weekend away will help Liddy get over her recent breakup with lawyer beau Sonny, the girls weren't prepared when Liddy falls helplessly head over heels for the smarmy travel reporter Jackson Young. Less [...]

Another enjoyable book in the Hayley Powell Food and Cocktails Mystery Series! You can tell Hayley is serious about her food and cocktails! My favorite parts of these books are definitely the recipes! I really love the theme of the girls' getaway and how murder seems to follow them all the way from Bar Harbor! I did miss the fun characters like Hayley's brother and brother in law but there were certainly memorable stand ins from Salmon Cove! I really liked the twists and turns and I eagerly awai [...]

**I voluntarily reviewed this ARC**I'm still in shock at that ending. As the mystery unfolds, it really is one shock after another. My only complaint is that you really need some tissues handy for the final column. The recipes sound delicious, and I'm working on figuring out if I can turn those cocktails into mocktails.

I love when I come across a book that fits the seasonal theme of when I’m reading it. Such is the case of DEATH OF A LOBSTER LOVER, the ninth book in the Hayley Powell Mystery series by Lee Hollis. Set against the theme of a summer vacation, we find the protagonist, Hayley, heading on summer vacation to Salmon Cove, Maine with her two best friends, Mona and Liddy. The author provides a generous amount of description to help the reader experience this vacation as if you are really there… and [...]

Hayley is off on a girls weekend to Salmon Cove, Maine with best friends Liddy and Mona but it doesn't turn out to be the relaxing weekend they all hoped. Mona's family cabin turns out to be in less than pleasing condition and there are no rooms available anywhere else in town. After Liddy meets a man and Mona runs into an old friend they decided to stay. While attending the Lobster Bake Hayley trips over a body and the girls weekend turns into one filled with murder and mystery. The dead man is [...]

*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from Kensington and Netgalley*A delightful new book that picks up where the series left off, Death of a Lobster Lover was an exciting book that I enjoyed!Hayley Powell is one of the few MCs that makes me laugh out loud. Her shenanigans and crazy wit, make her a joy to read about. I also love how she unapologetically investigates any happenings in her town (or in this book’s case, her vacation town). I really love Mona, thoug [...]

I was given this book by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.Hayley and her two best friends decide to leave town and have a girls weekend. Of course, thus is a cozy mystery, so anything that could go wrong DOES go wrong. When a mystery presents itself, Hayley inserts herself into the investigation. I enjoyed this book and will read more in the series. I didn't love the relationships between Hayley and her friends, but I would probably understand them more if I started a [...]

Set a cozy mystery in Maine and I'm already haflway to loving it. Add a realistic, dynamic, likeable main character and her best friends, throw in some friendly, not-so-friendly, and deceptively friendly secondary characters, and a murder or two, and you've got a great story! This Hayley Powell book is set in a different, smaller town in Maine as Hayley, Liddy, and Mona take a road trip to Mona's family cabin in northern Maine. The story moves at a good pace, and I was kept guessing who the culp [...]

Great new bookI love new to me recipes and Lee Hollis never fails to deliver. Not only are the recipes good, but the mystery is always a great one. You will have a few laughs, shed a few tears and end up cheering as the book comes to an end as the mystery is solved. I'm already looking forward yo the next book in the series.

Death of a Lobster Lover is the ninth book in Lee Hollis’s Hayley Powell Mystery series. There are lots of laughs and no adult language, graphic violence, or sexually explicit situations in this book. The story moves along at a steady pace, the mystery is well plotted, and the characters are well developed. There are twists and turns that keep the reader guessing.Hayley Powell is the office manager and food columnist for the Island Times in Bar Harbor, Maine and she humorously writes about her [...]

Food Columnist Hayley Powell is on a weekend getaway with her two best friends, Liddy and Mona, to Salmon Cove, Maine. She’s hoping for a relaxing trip, but murder gets in the way. When Liddy’s date stands her up and is found dead on the beach, Hayley believes that there’s more going on than meets the eye. As she starts to investigate, she draws the ire of the local sheriff. Can Hayley find the truth before she’s put in jail? This was a great cozy mystery filled with plot twists that made [...]

I love this series about a woman who writes a food column in the newspaper in Bar Harbor. This one was a road trip story about her and her two best friends. I didn't think this was as good as the other eight books in the series. I thought it unbelievable that they would stay in that run-down cabin; surely there were other hotels/motels in town besides the one booked up one. I thought it crazy that they stuck around long after they should have gotten out of town, especially since these were all p [...]

The latest in the Hayley Powell series, this is another excellent entry. In this story, Hayley and her friends Mona and Liddy go on vacation to Mona's family cabin, only to discover it is not at all what they expected. As usual in this series, there is a dead body that the friends stumble over, almost literally, and that sets off a chain of events where they are harassed by the local police officer, endangered by an inept lawyer, are attacked in their own cabin, encounter a second murder, and mu [...]

Mona, Liddy and Haley were heading to Salmon Cove, Maine for a fun girls weekend. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one argument after another and their quaint cabin turned out to be a dump. Just when Hayley thought it could not get any worse they found a body. The body was a man who stood up Liddy and now they find themselves involved in solving a murder. What I thought was going to be a simple cozy mystery took me on an interesting journey with a lot of twists and turns that came together nea [...]

Hayley, Mona, and Liddy are off for a little vacation at Mona's family "cottage" in Downeast Maine. Unfortunately, this is a less than restful vacation for the girls. Unrequited romance, a dead reporter on the beach, and more questions than answers spoil the lobster stew as the local sheriff dogs their every step in an effort to keep Hayley and her friends from meddling in the investigation into the death of the reporter. Lots of twists and turns and quirky characters keep readers engrossed in t [...]

I'm a huge fan of this series and I look forward to every one.Hayley, Liddy and Mona are on a girls getaway weekend in Salmon Cove, Maine. This should be a fun time for this trip of friends, but Liddy is licking her wounds after a bad breakup. Cheering their friend up isn't easy, but some attention from a handsome tourist seems to work.Unfortunately, he winds up dead, putting the three of them into the middle of another investigation.Even though I really enjoyed this book, it wasn't as good as th [...]

This is a good example of a cozy with recipes - Hayley is an enormously likable and intrepid amateur detective who is trying to clear her friend(s) from possible murder charges. What makes it a bit different is that the local sheriff is a woman and one of the suspects (Liddy) is not likable. The mystery is just twisty enough and there's a surprise ending (no spoilers!). I liked the recipes (while it's good for the lobstermen, unfortunately, lobster prices are up this summer so.) Small town Maine [...]

Salmon Cove Maine is the destination weekend for Hayley Powell and her girlfriends. Mona and her family used to summer there and the family cabin is sitting empty. The girls are a little dismayed at the shape of the cabin but the town is full with other tourists. When a guest at the hotel is found dead on the beach and an elderly local dies the girls start an investigation much to the local sheriff's dismay. Book 9 in the Hayley Powell series, I've read a couple and they are all stand alone. I l [...]

Hayley and her two friends Liddy and Mona decide to take a road trip and end up at Mona's uncle's cabin with no indoor plumbing. Everyone wants to leave until Liddy spots a man she wants to get to know better. That man is later found dead. Mona's old flame is someone the police chief likes so she is constantly giving them tickets for no reason so they decide not to leave town. Hayley doesn't want a murderer to go free so she goes looking for who did it. In between the chapters Hayley writes stor [...]

I got an advanced copy of this from netgalley and Kensington Books.Hayley and her friends Mona and Liddy are getting away for a girl's weekend in Salmon Cove, Maine. Little do the three of them know that the weekend comes complete with murder, after Hayley and Liddy discover a dead body on the beach. The well written plot moves along at a nice steady pace. There are some twists and turns thrown in the plot to keep you guessing until the end, where they come together neatly. The characters are so [...]

Salmon Cove, Maine seems like it would be ideal for three girls to get away to and spend some quality time together. Hayley Powell and her best friends; Liddy and Mona, need some R&R big time. Liddy can’t seem to find true love and is still licking her wounds from a break-up. While out one night Liddy thinks she has met “Mr. Rebound”. Mr. Rebound and Mr. Dead!!!Lots of plot twists and turns, fast paced and once you start the book, you don’t want to put it down. A bit disappointing at [...]

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

So Many Twists & Turns! What's not to love? There's plenty of action, a dash of romance, & an intriguing plot with many unexpected twists. It was so good the pages turned themselves. I will say though, the ending definitely tugged at my heart strings. Even so, I would definitely recommend to all to read this. As an extra bonus there are some delicious recipes interspersed & Hayley's Blog entries are quite fascinating.
