Non-stop action is the name of the game with detective Friday Barnes. In No Rules, the fourth book in the Friday Barnes series, our clever heroine has to save Highcrest Academy from being sold to developers and turned into a golf course. At the same time, she needs to clear the name of her “seriously good-looking” classmate, and key suspect, Ian Wainscott.Full review posted on CBCA's Reading Time: readingtime/no-rules-fr.

I love this series. It's so light and happy and full of mystery and so much fun to read.It had me laughing out loud at some points and gasping at others. I especially love the characters. Melanie is actually me, everything she says is hilarious and brilliant. Ian is adorable and Friday is so smart and together they're just so cute. SHIP.Frian is now this shipping name and I've been waiting since the start of this series for the ship to happen and it sure looks like it's happening now. Also what [...]

Don'read this book!!! The ending is Horrible. I mean who ends a book with I am taking my son to prison with ME!!!!!

I really liked it but the only thing stopping it from getting five stars is the fact that the author keeps on torturing us with Ian's and Friday's relationship and not giving us want we really want.

Awesome and witty as always. With smart wording and superb characterization. But oh another cliff hanger! lol

Great addition to the series. Love the small mysteries that go along with the larger overarching mystery.

Another fun, snappy little story set in the wildly improbably and improbably delightful world of Friday Barnes.

Author: R.A. SprattFirst Published: 2016Length: 245 pagesDifferent and perhaps easier than earlier books since there is more mystery with easy to find clues and less literary references. Early books, particularly the first, focussed on Friday’s knowledge (Austen, Golding, Christie) which would have gone over the heads of many (most) young readers. Book 4 doesn’t do this. Which makes it more palatable, but is a little sad. They didn’t talk down to the readers, assuming they’ll understand, [...]

Friday Barnes: No Rules picks up from the perhaps the best cliffhanger in the whole series. Friday is not Friday Barnes, and she has been deported to Switzerland, and her mystery-solving comes in handy to get out of the airport and back home. The start is good and got you gripped. Then the chaos began Highcrest and the storyline (okay, maybe I'm exaggerating). Someone fired all the teachers, and after investigating the suspect is revealed to be Ian Wainscott. VP Pete arrives and causes more harm [...]

More hilarious and mysterious happenings for our favourite 12-year-old cynic / super intelligent misfit. This book is very funny, with razor-sharp witticisms. There's not much character development; however, it's laugh-out-loud funny so it's easy to forgive the author for delivering more of the same. Both my 9-year-old and I are eagerly awaiting the next instalment, due out later this year.

Fun for younger readers with mysteries galore for Friday to solve, with most occuring at her own school. What is behind this surfeit of crimes? Friday must find out if her school is going to survive.
