So decided to read this here short story that fits between books 2 and 3 in the Shepherd series when book three appeared like magic. Dakota never learned to drive so one of her girlfriends (she has several, okay two), decides to teach her. So they are bouncing around an abandoned parking lot one night when they run over a man. With Dakota behind the wheel. They frantically look at what they've done but . . . no body. They look everywhere. Then, a man appears standing near them. The same man they [...]

Book 3 as a novella of Shei Darksbane "Auralight Codex: Dakota Shepherd" series. Please read "Awakened" and "Hunted" first.Whilst Raelya is teaching Dakota to drive in an empty parking lot they stumble upon a decades old secret that threatens to break the bonds of the pack. A horrible crime that has gone unpunished for too long. It is up to Dakota to work out the mystery and seek justice for the crime that impacts the whole pack.Shei Darksbane has done a great job with this novel. Being the seco [...]

Lovely little novella that, while it probably won't have a huge impact on the overall story, nevertheless told a complete tale and added some more character details and interactions that helped to flesh out the world a bit more. Occasionally, novellas can feel sparse or rushed, but not so here. While it wasn't terribly long, it felt precisely as long as it needed to be. It was a fun read, and I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the previous two novels.

Man, an excellent story! This is the first of what I understand to be several Dakota short stories and to be honest, I'm excited for the rest if they're all as good as this one! This is an excellent story about well, I'm afraid to say too much for fear of spoilers. But it was an amazing peek both into the history of Dakota's world, and into the way the world works. Looking forward to the next one :)

It was a fun little extra read. added a different light to an established world. Not much to say about a little short except it was funny and added a nice tie in to the rest of the series.*Edit: Ok I've had some time to think so I'm going to flesh this out as I think you deserve more of a review. I liked getting more backstory, and I liked getting to know (view spoiler)[ about Dakota's family. The whole ghost thing was pretty cool! Love a good ghost story, (hide spoiler)] and this one was a nice [...]
