I have always been a huge fan of Nancy Wake ever since reading The White Mouse as a teenager. I was therefore very excited to see this picture book version in the 2016 Shortlisted Books for the Children's Book Council of Australia. While the tense annoyed me -- it is written in present tense -- I understand that it makes the story more exciting for young kids. It is quite detailed and will, no doubt, capture the imaginations of a new generation of readers.

Fascinating story about an amazing, spirited woman, Nancy Wake. Presented in a collection of accounts accompanied by gripping pen and ink illustrations that take on an almost newspaper appearance. Great to see this in an accessible picture book format. Suited for mid to upper primary.

Awesome story but a little hard to follow. I found myself re-reading lots of parts. An excellent example of a Quest story for writing examples.
