That's MUCUS??? Ew.ewewew.! How did I not know this? The Oak Toads were pretty cool though. So tiny! Yes, I love these books. Yes, I love learning new things even at my age. What's even cooler? My kids love these books too!

It's terrible, just plain terrible. The "facts" about amphibians are uninteresting, just common sense any parent can tell a child without books. The pictures are related to the text only somewhat. And besides I couldn't notice any effort to make the text interesting to kids. I wanted to give one star, but my family convinced me that it should be two: the book may be not interesting, but at least it's not misleading. One thing to the credit - it doesn't have any factual errors.

This nonfiction book is interesting and can help build vocabulary with words like amphibian. It is fun to have the kids say the word with you a couple of times. There is only one sentence per page so it is not overwhelming in detail. Kids seem to like nonfiction books sprinkled in with fiction and like many books like this, there is a page of factual info at the end which you can read ahead of time or with the children.

This book is great for children 4-10. It's filled with science vocabulary and facts about amphibians. Colorful illustrations and lots to learn from this book. This is a great pick if you're looking for a book about reptiles and the life cycle of a frog.

This nonfiction book with simple text and beautiful illustrations identifies the most basic characteristics which make an animal an amphibian. This would be useful with younger learners.
