A bittersweet tale of a young woman's ghost working with a detective to find her killer. While told with whimsey and humour, I found the story of the woman's death believable and quite sad. We never know the consequences of seemingly meaningless actions until it's too late, and in that way, Fey's story is a bit of a cautionary tale (although of course the consequences usually aren't quite so brutal).I really felt for the title character, and found the detective with paranormal abilities intrigui [...]

I love ghosts. Stories about what happens after death have always fascinated me. Chrys's story doesn't disappoint. Jolie Montgomery wakes up with no memory of how she ended up dead in an alley. She follows the lead detective throughout the investigation, with the mystery unraveling as the story progresses. There isn't a single slow moment in Ghost of Death. In fact, I read the entire book in two sessions on the treadmill. I couldn't stop reading! I highly recommend this one.

21-year-old Jolie Montgomery has received a fate worse than death: she's a ghost. She was murdered, and she has no recollection of the incident. But Jolie doesn't have to solve the mystery surrounding her death on her own. Detective Avrianna Heavenborn is on the case, and she holds the most crucial skill required to solve this particular case: she can see ghosts.Ghost of Death was an enjoyable story that flowed rapidly and, more importantly, flowed with ease. I loved how the story began - gettin [...]

Ghost of Death went through many changes before it was ready for all of you. I first got the idea for Ghost of Death six years ago! But I didn't get very far with writing it. After I thought of sending Witch of Death to my publisher, I picked up this story idea again. The original draft was written in first person-past tense and was about a sixteen-year-old girl. While working with my fabulous editor, I had changed the story to third person and aged Jolie Montgomery (the ghost) to a twenty-one-y [...]

I haven't read many ghost stories, but whenever I do, I tend to enjoy them. (Might be a good reason to read more of them, eh?)Anyhow, I definitely enjoyed this short story. Oddly enough, the one thing I didn't enjoy as much is the fact that it IS a short story. Yeah, I know. Weird. But I would have really liked to see this story fleshed out more (so to speak) and lengthened into a novel. The idea of a murder victim's ghost working with a detective could lend itself nicely into a quirky tale with [...]

Ghost of Death is a delightful, entertaining short story. Delightful doesn't sound like the right word to describe a book titled about ghost and death, but Ms. Fey writes the main character, Jolie the ghost, in such a sassy, fun way, the humor just flows perfectly even with the gruesome death. I also got a kick out of the relationship between the detective investigating the murder and Jolie who is determined to discover who killed her and why. I wonder if there could be a novel length sequel to [...]

I love the etheral cover for Ghost of Death by Chrys Fey. The ghostly effect made me eager to read this wonderful and sometimes humorous novella about a murdered woman, who is now a ghost, and the investigation into her death.Jolie figured, if she had to be a ghost, she would be the best ghost she could be.She could walk through walls, but not tweet. I thought that was very funny and the writing set the tone for the rest of the story.Jolie doesn’t know how she died, but she watched as the poli [...]

I am always drawn to books that have ghosts in them and when I read the title and what the book was about, I had to read it. This book was awesome. I couldn't get enough and was disappointed when it ended.Waking up dead is a shock but waking up next to your own body is even worse. This is how Jolie's new life started. She couldn't remember the hows or what happened but she knew she was dead and a ghost to top it all off. She wanted to find out what happened to her and when the detective in charg [...]

Jolie Montgomery was found murdered in an alley. Her future had been cut short. Detective Avrianna Heavenborn (Aurora P/D) was on the case. Will she solve the case? Just in time for Halloween 2015. I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one. A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written Paranormal [...]

Twenty-one year old, Jolie Montgomery, is brutally murdered in a dark alley. Her spirit cannot rest until her murderer is found and justice is served. In order to solve the case, Jolie hooks up with superstar detective, Avrianna, who can actually see Jolie and speak with her. Avrianna is an intriguing character, not only because she can see ghosts, but also because at times, her eyes glow green. She was also found at sea, abandoned as a baby. I think readers would want to know more about her.Whi [...]

Jolie Montgomery hates being a ghost. She has no memory of what happened to her and can only hope for some answers by following around the lead detective on her murder case. Det. Avrianna Heavenborn is one of the best and she's determined to find Jolie's killer. Everyone's a suspect, even those Jolie loves most. The only way she can find peace is to see her murderer caught.A marvelous short paranormal tale that grabbed me right from the beginning. The tension is tight throughout and, like the de [...]

Chrys Fey captured the essence of a 21 year old ghost miffed that she's been killed wonderfully. The characters were interesting and the story moved at a good pace. It's a short read. I actually finished most of it in one night. There were a few questions left hanging, like the detective's ability to see and speak to ghosts and the thing her eyes did. The only real issue I had was the killer and how he blurted everything out to Jolie. I would have much rather the info been discovered during inte [...]

I tried it, but found it to be very cliché. Waking up dead next to your body has been done over and over. Then the tone is kind of immature “It sucks being a ghost” Not an exact quote, but that’s what the dialogue is like. Also I don’t know why the author had to awkwardly try and fit in description beyond what a ghost can sense. For example, she assumes the alley stinks even though she can't smell. This just seemed amateurish to me as if someone told the author you have to somehow get i [...]

A short read from Chrys Fey that manages to encompass a lot of emotion and a fair bit of action. I loved the concept of Jolie waking up as a ghost and us as readers trying to figure out what happened right alongside her. There was some sassiness to her character and a fair bit of humour in the book. I would also like to know more about the investigator, Avrianna, who has some special abilities and a fascinating backstory. It would be great to see her pop up in other stories or maybe even get her [...]

Jolie Montgomery stands beside her dead body in shock and without any memory. No sooner can she understand that she is in fact, a ghost, detective Avrianna Heavenborn appears on the scene. As the story unfolds, ghost and detective work 'together' to solve the crime. This is a fast paced, quick supernatural crime read. Author, Chrys Fey manages to weave a terrifying story from a ghost's point of view. She even adds some cheeky dialogue and humor in spite of the dark plot.

Jolie, a murder victim, was a college student in her early twenties. As a ghost, she can’t recall who killed her. In her spirit state she can reach out to people, and one of these people is the detective in charge of her case. This short story is an intense paranormal/mystery tale. It was interesting to see how the detective and Jolie pieced things together to solve the case.

This is a short, easy read. If you love a good mystery, ghost stories, or anything with a hint of the supernatural, you can't go wrong here. Content Warning: Adult language, references to adult relations, a touch of gore.
