3.3 stars"Have you ever kissed a woman with a mustache, Mr. Fairchild?" She fluttered her lashes at him."Not that I can recall. And certainly never deliberately.""What a shame that you missed your opportunity then." She smirked and turned toward the door."I do hate to miss an opportunity." He grabbed her, pulled her into his arms, and stared down at her. "Miss Merryweather." Before she could protest he pressed his lips to hers. For a moment she hesitated, then kissed him back, hard and with a gr [...]

I received a free ARC from the publisher and author in exchange for an honest review. These are my opinions and mine alone. On the day Lucinda turns twenty-one, she also turns into an heiress when she gains access to her fortune. However, her aunt, who Lucinda was named after, leaves behind more than a fortune. She leaves a book of regrets— challenges and dares she never had the courage to take on because they are considered improper and scandalous in society’s eyes. Now close to the age of t [...]

The writing was good, if a bit repetitive. That 'great-aunt’s list of regrets' was mentioned way too many times, and by the end I was so tired of reading the word 'regret'. We really didn't need to be reminded of the list every three pages. Yes, we know it was the impetus for all this. Move on already. I quite liked most scenes with appearances and descriptions of the extended families. The quest itself was rather childish. Heroine was naive, seemed younger than the 24 years assigned to her an [...]

The Daring Exploits of a Runaway Heiress by Victoria Alexander is another wonderful historic romance novel, that has wonderful story, and even more wonderful characters. This time we follow Lucy Merryweather and Cameron Effington. Lucy has come to England to let her never-to-be fiancé go and to try to carry out her great aunt's regrets. So she stays in London, in company of Clara West, and together they try to do as many things as possible from the list of things that Lucy's great aunt regretted [...]

dazzling and DelightfulVictoria Alexander's writing is dazzling , fabulous and delightful. I really enjoyed reading this book.Lucy Merryweather is an heiress who inherited a fortune and a list of unfulfilled wishes from her great aunt, when fate handed Lucy the chance she had assumed lost forever( her long-time fiance fell in love with another woman)Lucy decides to accomplish as many as those wishes possible. Her family an ocean away in America , she is free and independent with a companion a few [...]

I thought the basic plot of a young women fulfilling her great aunt's bucket list was interesting, but this book was a lot better in theory than in actuality. My biggest problem with it was definitely Cameron - I thought he was totally insufferable. I don't think he actually saw anything wrong with using Lucy's life as plot for his stories, and I also thought he was very condescending towards her. I liked Lucy better than I liked Cameron, but she was a bit annoying at times. Clara was definitely [...]

This book was a 3 star book for me. It had an interesting concept, but it didn't really draw me in like I'd hoped it would. The characters addressed each other by name way too much, especially at the beginning, and the unfolding of the relationship between Lucy and Cameron didn't make that much sense to me. It was an okay read and very light, but I think more could have been done with the concept.

This was a nice book, but it did not live up to my expectations. The last two books in the series that I read which are The Scandalous Adventures of the Sister of the Bride (which was my first book ever by Victoria Alexander) and The Shocking Secret of a Guest at the Wedding. Those two books were amazing and this one left me wanting.Lucy Merryweather engagement has finally broken from her fiance of many years. They both knew, deep down, that they did not wish to marry each other and that they we [...]

Posted on What I'm ReadingOh boy, where to begin. I have been dreading to write my thoughts for sometime. First off, I do love Victoria Alexander writing. She tends to have fun plots and characters, but I just couldn't get into this story. I tried, and I hoped it would get better. However, it fell flat from my expectations. So, here we go. If you have been reading Millworth Manor books you would remember Lucy The Shocking Secret of a Guest at the Wedding. She use to be engaged to Jackson, but he [...]

Lucy is an American with an inheritance and a list of list of regrets. Cam is the youngest son of a lord who's attempting to make his name as a writer, independent of his family's fortune. Fate, adventure, and an undeniable story throw them together. This wasn't necessarily bad book. It was fine. It just wasn't to my taste. All reviews are subjective, and I'm acknowledging that this might be even more subjective than most. I got bored. I felt like it stalled. Even the adventures didn't necessari [...]

Victoria Alexander has always been able to amuse me with her story-lines. This was no exception. It was humorous and lighthearted, but it wasn't fluff either. She doesn't write 'fluff', she just writes good old fashion witty romances with HEAs :)Lucy and Cameron make for great leads in this little 'adventurous' tale! He's a reporter and she's newly 'rich' with a bucket list LOLLoved the idea of Lucy's adventures. She was painted with a great personality. She had the adventurous, but not reckless [...]

I LOVE the cover, LOVE the Victorian era – and really dislike the current fad of 19th century heroines completing “bucket lists”.My love for the era won out over my hesitance about the plot, and while I enjoyed some of this, it felt a little too anachronistically “Girl Power!” for me.

Fun book. Lucy made her first appearance in The Shocking Secret of a Guest at the Wedding, as the non-fiancee of the hero Jackson. I really liked her there and looked forward to reading her story. When the book begins, her family has gone back to New York, leaving her in the care of Jackson's mother. What her mother doesn't know is that all the people who are supposedly in charge of Lucy have gone off on their own business, leaving Lucy very happily on her own. Jackson makes a last ditch effort [...]

Review can be read at It's About The BookThis is my absolute favorite Victoria Alexandra book! While I enjoyed the previous one, for some reason this one just struck a chord with me and I just couldn’t put it down. Loved the main character Lucy and thought that while Cameron had a weak start, he developed well throughout the book and at the end I was very pleased with him. Delightful plot and wonderful scenery–great read!Lucy Merryweather is an American who has been set loose in London for a [...]

Originally Reviewed For: Bodice Rippers, Femme Fatales and FantasyThere are just some authors whose names you see and you think, I just have to read her book. Right now Victoria Alexander is one of those. I have read some of her past books and one of the things I am enjoying is how she left the Regency Period and moved to the Victorian. I think partially because her families grew. There were new generations, new stories to tell. Of course that's just my opinion. But I will say, the dresses on th [...]

I did enjoy this book, not as much as the first three, but much more than the last book.I found this book to be a nice, easy read. Nothing emotionally draining, nothing too stupid or unbelievable happens and I never for one second doubted that Lucy and Cameron belonged together. Lucy inherited a fortune from her late aunt Lucinda (for whom she is named after) as well as a journal from her. This journal is a list of regrets that Aunt Lucinda had in her life. She doesn't insist that Lucy set her r [...]

For those readers who hate a plot based on a Big Misunderstanding, one that would negate the whole rest of the story, I will counsel you now to run away. For those readers who have enjoyed Ms. Alexander's books in the past, I can only tell you that this book is just as wonderful as the rest of her Millworth Manor series with the addition of a tie-in to the next generation of Effingtons.Cameron, "Cam," Effington is the youngest son of Jonathon and Fiona from Let it Be Love. He is somewhat irksome [...]

Copy graciously provided by Net Galley. 5 Captivating, Heartfelt STARS!!!Another GLORIOUS Journey compliments of Victoria Alexander!!!!!! Two individuals branching out on their own. I received an ARC of The Daring Exploits of a Runaway Heiress by Victoria Alexander for an honest review. American Lucy's wealthy great-aunt has endowed her remaining wealth to Lucy. Lucy sees this as a way to break free and strike out on her own. She does this by trying to fulfill her great-aunt's "bucket list". Cameron Effington is seeking to make a name for himself as a reporter. Being the youngest son of a Lord is not enough, he wants to prove hims [...]

This is another fun romance from Alexander. I loved the characters. Lucy has always done what expected but for now she is free to do the unexpected. That leads to some really great laugh out loud moments.Cameron Effington is just trying to prove himself to his father. It was fun to watch him dig himself into a very deep hole. His action added to those laugh out loud moments. Lucy’s adventures and Cameron’s actions fuel the plot. The tension in the story revolves around the actions of both Lu [...]

The Daring Exploits of a Runaway Heiress by Victoria Alexander is a fun read. Lucy Merryweather has a wonderful opportunity. With a little subterfuge, she has managed to be alone in London England. She has hired a companion Clara and is working on a list of things to do. The list is not hers but her great Aunt Lucinda’s List of regrets (things she always wanted to do). Cameron Effingham is looking for a story idea, a muse. He has a specific number of days to prove to his father that he can wri [...]

I really enjoyed reading this book by Victoria Alexander. Lucy and Cameron were wonderful to get to know I like that Lucy was finally breaking free and coming out of the shell of propriety imposed by her family when she turned 21 and inherited her great -aunt's fortunate. She goes to England to make it right with her great -aunt who left behind a list of regrets of stuff she wasn't able to do in life. Lucy's zest for life is what draws Cameron to her even thou there were times I wanted to smack [...]

The Daring Exploits of a Runaway Heiress is a madcap adventure full of fun and mishaps. Cam is a Lord turned writer, pretending to be a detective. How bad can it turn out, right? Lucy is a heiress who is trying to fulfill her great aunt's list of regrets; some are as small as having a pet, others are a little more challenging, like kissing a stranger. Cam is writing fiction stories using Lucy as his muse while pretending to be a private detective sent to watch over her. Will Lucy's new love for [...]

I greatly enjoyed Victoria Alexander's latest. I was given an advance copy to write a impartial review, and thoroughly enjoyed this story. Lucy, an American heiress is in London attempting to live out a series of adventures left to her by her great aunt. While on her adventure, she falls in love with Cam, a writer and son of a duke. Throughout the story, their game of cat and mouse entertains, as the reader continues to root for them to fall in love and have everything out in the open. I hope th [...]

This was my first book by Victoria Alexander and I loved it! I'm now going to buy the other books in this series to know the whole story from the beginning. Loved the heroine and how she stood her ground against everyone who tried to stop her from achieving her goals. Highly reccommend this book!

Lucy and Cam's adventures are exciting and fun. Who knew a girl could get so much done in one town. Lucy was awesomely likeable. I'd love to be her bestie. Cam was developed well and the romance bloomed beautifully. It's definitely not one to miss!!

I, truly, don't know if it is possible for me to love Victoria Alexander's books anymore than I do. I get so excited every time that I see a new one is coming out. This one did not disappoint. I loved everything about it. The characters were great and the romance was perfect.

I really enjoyed this book, it was cleverly written, with both protagonists winning my heart. Especially Lucy, the headstrong American miss with a list of her Great Aunt's objectives that she wants to accomplish. I couldn't get enough of her character. She was witty, and strong, and didn't let herself be cowed just because someone felt it was her duty to protect her. I also couldn't get enough of Cameron, who bless his foolish little heart, is hiding a secret from this woman that he begins to ca [...]
