Excellent book. Because of a childhood injury that caused a scar on her face, Phillipa hides herself away from people. She spends her days on playing and writing music. When questions about her father and brothers send her to the Masquerade Club, she sees Xavier an old friend from her childhood. Intrigued by the idea of the club, Phillipa convinces him to let her play the piano at the club, remaining masked to protect her reputation. Just as Phillipa begins to gain some confidence in herself, he [...]

I really liked this book. Everything is perfect, the plot, the characters, the feelings.I really enjoyed every minute. The Friendship between Xavier and Phillipa is just so sweet. I love how their feelings change to become strong and everlasting love.I love how the theme of the scar is written. It's realistic and sensible, showing really what Phillipa feels because of her "accident."I was really moved by how Xavier helps her to realise that she is hurting herself more than anyone could hurt her [...]

Adonis - that was what all the young debutantes at the ball were calling him, only Lady Phillipa Westleigh knew him as her very own childhood champion, Xavier Campion. And there he was bowing before her and asking her for a dance which as it turned out because of a jealous friend telling her that her bothers had coerced hXavier to dance with her, sent her running and reclusive for the next five years, hiding her face and the hideous scar on her cheek she had received as a young child.Present day [...]

I'll start by saying that I have not read the first book in the series although I have seen it a couple of times on the library shelves and I have had the possibility to pick it up. But not once have I felt that it intrigues me enough to give it a shot. And I still don't think that I want to give it a shot after having spoiled myself with this lovely novel and I think that I may have spoiled the first book's experience as well by reading this one first. But about Xavier and Philippa He's a very [...]

Well-done series regency story. Music flows throughout--the lady is a composer and, secretly, a performer. I wasn't convinced her problem was really that serious -- didn't a lot of folks get smallpox and war scars, etc? -- but it was clear it was important to her. And it was clear that she was important to Xavier, meltingly so. I found the repetition of details and character names and re-explanation of previously revealed story, um, repetitive (is it Harlequin style, to help distracted readers?) [...]

I really appreciate Diane Gaston's characters. They are humans. They have flaws. I have been so many Regency Historic Romance from different authors for a little over two months, and I come to see patterns that emerge from the collective works by some authors. In Diane's work you find inperfect love between parents and children, man and woman, between brothers but they are all heartfelt and so real.

allaboutromance/book-revieA Marriage of Notoriety, the hero is the beauty and the heroine is the beast. It is a decent read by one of my go-to authors, and I am glad I read it, but it nonetheless fell just a little flat in the relationship department and the storyline.Phillipa Westleigh is the bane of her mother’s existence. Because of a childhood accident, Phillipa has a very noticeable and ugly scar on her face and how will she EVER get married if she refuses to leave the house? The taunts a [...]

When friends keep secretsI read three kinds of books: books that inform, books of romance, and books of mystery. If the lines are blurred, that is all the better. This book has romance, in spades, from parents to brothers, to permanently unrequited lovers. It has a potentially sinister underlying mystery. And it has sufficient detail to eliminate the world for the time it takes to read it. I would recommend it to anyone searching for a light read to escape for a little while, but especially to t [...]

A little tiresome in that Phillipa just couldn't believe others could see beyond her scar and appreciate the real person inside. Her mother was hard-hearted and her brothers were not really available for Phillipa. I did love Xavier; he was protective and supportive of Phillipa's musical talent and in general. 3 stars.

"Book two in Gaston's Masquerade Club series is a twist on the Beauty and the Beast tale. It's also about loving one's self and having the courage to reach out and claim the man of your dreams. Readers are in for a treat with this sensual Regency and its engaging characters, realistic settings and accurate research." RT Book Reviews, rated Received 4 stars Miniseries: The Masquerade Club

Good historical romance book. I appreciate the author did not bring too many ball scene where parents selling their daughters to the highest bidder. Xavier and Philippa are very likeable characters and both seems very "real" to me. Xavier acts toward soldiers is very thoughtful. Overall I enjoy this book.

Xavier Campion and Phillipa Westleigh1814, LondonThis had potential to be a lot better than it was with the interesting set up of the characters and a likeable male lead. But it fell flat in some ways and ended up being mediocre.

Lo leí más bien porque quería leer el siguiente y la protagonista salía en este.Osea, me pareció normal.

Kostymdrama i bokform. Bitvis underhållande och intressant och ibland bara en plåga i självförnekelse.
