Okay Ladies and Gents, meet Mr Sean Black. His first book was released in 2009 and featured Ryan Lock an ex-soldier turned Bodyguard and his partner Tyrone Johnson. I picked the first one up and if I’m being 100% honest didn’t expect all that much. Just how many more characters like this could my mind take? As it turns out, my mind was very open to Ryan and Ty and now let me introduce you to my latest character crush!I have read each of Sean Black’s 3 books in the series so far and was rea [...]

I finished this book, so it's good enough to read. Barely. A security guy and his partner chase a rapist/murder to Mexico and work him out from under the folks protecting him. SPOILER: some justice is served in this book. Nice set up, good plot idea, interesting team description and good rationale to drive the plot. But the execution never quite took off. This is definitely not Jack Reacher, or Elvis Cole, or Ethan Hunt. Maybe I had a problem with the tedious detail in places: He approached the [...]

An Author almost Worthy of Vince FlynnTy And Lock are good names for two bad hombres to have on the right side of the law. The story was great and the main actors were superb l. It gave us a look into the horrific problems that go on in border towns along the Mexican border. I love the way our two main characters brought justice to the murder of innocent girls. Keep up the good work Mr. Lock. I look forward to more of your adventures.

Well worth the investment! For those enjoy fast paced, action thrillers Sean Black is an author to follow. Having read almost all of his series this is a name that draws me in every time with a story that could be torn from today's headlines news. Don't miss out on is talented author!

Enjoyed the sroryI chose the 5 star rating because the story kept me interested and looking forward to more. Characters were well designed to fit the plot. The story was believable because of the actual actions of the Mexican cartels.

I love Ty Johnson just a little bit more than Ryan Lock. He has compassion. I guess something Ryan cannot afford in his line of work. Although Ty manages quite fine. Charlie Mendez is a narcissistic sociopath. He deserved far worse than he got. A shame.

Devils bountyFull of action and suspense a great read. It shows what can get done with persistence and honesty. Lock is a real hero along with Ty

I enjoy this series. The characters are strong and the stories are full of action. A little brutal at times, though.

Review: thefoundingfields/2013/11/“A fun, fast paced read that whilst may not be perfect is certainly pretty promising with some entertaining stuff. Accessible to newcomers as well as readers who have read the previous Ryan Lock novels - this helps make The Devil’s Bounty a fairly solid read.“ ~Bane of Kings, The Founding Fields"HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO FOR JUSTICE?Wealthy playboy CHARLIE MENDEZ is a violent rapist who thinks he’s above the law. When he’s finally convicted for his horrific [...]

Wow. Sean Black just keeps getting better as an author and this latest book featuring Ryan and Ty was by far the best in the series. A worry for any fan of an author is always whether the next book will be as good as previous books however a few pages into this book and that worry vanished. This book was better than the others, by miles. And that is a huge compliment when you consider just how good the previous novels are.Like the other books this one read like a movie. I could just imagine watc [...]

This was a good story but I had trouble staying engaged and at times had to concentrate on what was happening.

A new author for me, picked up through the freebie program. This is the fourth in a series featuring Ryan Lock and his partner, Tyrone Johnson as the protags. Dropping into the middle of this leaves the reader with a lack of back story. The author does a little fill in, but not a lot. Definitely will have to go back a catch up with the previous three books. The book itself moves along at a fairly rapid pace. Some parts of the book are predictable, others contain some suspense. All in all it’s [...]

points: 3.5 starsThis was my first book of the author. It was good and very fast-paced. I enjoyed it most because it focused just on the story and never contained any add-on texts to fill the pages. despite that I love mystery genre and want to see a little mystery even in crime novels, this book hasn't written as a mysterious story in my opinion. but it was a good crime/action story and it deserves to get 3.5 starts from me. if it had just a small piece of mystery in it, I definitely have given [...]

This is the 4th book about Ryan LockRyan and his partner Ty are working a bodyguards for a band when a girl get shots asking Ryan for helpCharlie Mendez left the states and went to Mexico after being on bail for rape of girlsRyan and Ty go after him but you have the cartel in mexico looking for him, but lots of people are getting killed young girls found deadA girl goes missing again and Ryan and Ty help to get her free and still get Charliethe book has twist and turns all the way and you dont k [...]

I really enjoyed this book. It has a relatively fast pace, a nice tight plot, and although predictable at times, IE-the ending, the author threw in enough twists and curves to keep you on your toes and wondering how the hell is he gonna get past this one. The editing is clean, the characters are developed and likable, but I didn't feel the emotion coming through-from any of the characters. It was a little too much telling and not enough painting in places that could have used the color. All in a [...]

The only thing I don't like about Sean Black's books is they are too darn short. I'm going through them like a fat kid through Smarties (I'm allowed to say that because I was a fat kid and I went through a lot of Smarties). Don't get me wrong, they're too short because I can't stop reading them. The story was interesting with the usual plot twists and turns I've come to expect from Black complete with lots of action. Another book you've got to read.

Chilling Ryan Lock decides to chase after an evil man who needs to be brought to justice. Charles Mendez has a sentence above his head and has been rumored to be hiding with help of a cartel. Ryan is determined he must be brought back even though many bounty hunters have tried and died. The book brings the reality of atrocities committed to the forefront adding to the edge of your seat, nail biting feeling making it a must read thriller.

Nobody epitomizes truth, justice and the American way quite like Ryan Locke and Ty Johnson. They will pursue it to Mexico and back if they have to. This time they had to. Outwitting and overpowering, at times, a drug cartel and dirty Mexican cops, they head down there to capture and bring back a rapist/murderer, to fulfill a promise to a dying victim. All the action you have come to expect from a Sean Black novel.

This is the third Sean Lock book that I have read, and it is a terrific action suspense story. He and his good friend Ty go to Mexico to find justice for Lock's slain fiancee, helping out another young woman, some law enforcement people, and apprehending Charlie Mendez, a rich scumbag. I hope to read any other of these books.

This is my first Sean Black book, and it won't be my last. It's a straight-ahead solid thriller in the Lee Child/Greg Rucka mold: a bad-ass hero with trouble in his past helping out the weak and preyed-upon. It's a classic formula, and Sean Black executes it well and keeps it fresh. The plot moves right along and keeps you turning the pages. Recommended.

Let me preface by saying I really liked the first 3 books in the series. That said, this one was a disappointment. I can't put my finger on exactly what the problem was, but the writing seemed sort of antiseptic, very much like an instruction manual on how Lock went through a day. Lock was supposed to be dealing with grief, but I just didn't feel it. It didn't come across through the pages.

Book started slow - boring? But eventually picked up the pace and became a good mystery. Author knows grammar and has a good editor. No typos or misspelled words that I can recall. It was a pleasure to read.

I have to say this was prob my least favorite Ryan Lock Book out of the series so far, but the characters are so easy to like, and the banter between them makes the book very readable.Cant wait for the next Ryan Lock book.

Good vs. True Evil!Black does his research and lays out the pure evil possible when drugs, murder and sex are mixed together in graphic, action-packed scenes throughout. Entertaining, educational and scary.

I enjoyed this book and love the whole Ryan Lock series. I actually read book 5 first, but then went back and read from the beginning. It is a well written book, full of action and I love Ryan and Ty and the friendship they have. Will definitely be reading the next one.

Real close to great.Just finished a power read of this book, and with just small details in need of help it was well written, good pace, and suspenseful while not dragging you the reader through a guns and ammo seminar. Enjoy simple straightforward writing.

This is the 4th in the Ryan Lock series. Sean Black is really on a roll. I like the interaction between Ryan Lock and his partner Ty Johnson. The action will keep you on edge. I couldn't put this book down.

The action never stopped in this book! I anticipated more focus on Lock's grief in this book, but was a bit disappointed. Overall, I solid, action-packed book. Looking forward to the next book in the series!

Stops your breathAnother Sean Black heart stopper. Always a fast paced ride of drama, thrills and chills. I would always want Lock and Ty on my side. Their friendship is heart warming.

Ryan Lock's world is filled with kidnapers, rapists, gang members, Mexican drug lords, and a wealthy family who buys protection. He also knows a few good people -- a college coed who was raped and a Mexican policewoman seeking justice. No graphic sex or violence
