FYI- The author graciously provided a copy of the book for review. Thanks, Helen! My Bitch Factor 10 rating: 4.8 In my review of the first book in the Eve McKenzie's Demons series, I groused that The Immolation Of Eve was not quite an "epic" beginning to the tale of a British solicitor who discovers that she is an unwitting part of an otherworldly power struggle. Don't get me wrong, I loved the book, but I felt the scope of Immolation wasn't quite epic-y enough for that claim. In Immolation's seq [...]

I'm not quite sure how this book crept up on me, after being really disappointed in the first of the series I was not looking forward to reading this one but thought I should before I forgot all the ins and outs of Manitu and it's resident tribes. I have never been so glad to be proved wrong by a book. There is little time spent trying to make Eve and her environs seem "normal" and we are plunged almost straight in to the action via the murderous Moroi, the footsoldiers of the Perelynsk. Eve spen [...]

Even though I pretty liked the first book this one didn't caught my attention as much. I really liked Eve in the first book, she's strong and determined but in the sequel she seems like a coward, a runner. Most of the story is about how Eve gets haunted by her enemy torturing her family and friends. All the people she loves getting hurt won't make enough to face her enemy until her prince charming is in danger. It's so annoying that despite all the trouble she went on the first book to help her [...]

c2012: FWFTB: Demon, sister, ascension, lidere, murder. I enjoyed this one a lot more than the first outing of Eve. Mainly because all the 'mystery' regarding who or what Eve was has all been sorted out. There is some good world building and the dialogue is much better. The plotting could have done with a little strengthening but with a single POV it is difficult to do. Recommended to the spec-fic aficionados in the normal crew. "There was no way Mandalina or Perun would tolerate caring for them [...]

My new favorite series. I am looking forward to seeing what happens! I hope we see more of James at some point! I am a sucker for happy endings.
