Really?? People have given this book five stars? No offense, but why? That this book was even published is amazing to me, let alone published by mega-giant, Hyperion. They should be ashamed of themselves. Truly. This is the second Hyperion book I've read this month that isn't worth the paper it's printer on (Generation Dead was the first) or the time I put into reading it.First let me say that the characters are one dimensional that's right, I said one dimensional. They strive to be two dimensio [...]

I was immediately interested in The Black Sheep because it sounded like a funny version of Wife Swap for teenagers. Reality TV is becoming huge all over the globe and whilst I've scorned these programmes for years, I can no longer deny the fact that they are incredibly entertaining. What I loved about The Black Sheep was the fact that the protagonist, Kendra Bishop, was unwittingly thrust into the world of reality TV and wasn't an annoying, fame hungry teenager. The main character is really like [...]

The Black Sheep was completely unexpected, but I absolutely adored it! In a fit of anger, Kendra writes a lengthy letter to an upcoming TV show ranting about her parents' detailed plans for her life. Every second of her day is scheduled with some class or lesson to groom her into a banker like them, leaving no room for Kendra to explore her own interests. The worst part? They're not even around to see their plans put to work! When they're not working, they're running marathons all over the conti [...]

I picked this book for the title. I don't know why, but recently I've been very opposed to reading the inside flap of books and I just read the one sentence summary inside. The title and the cover seemed interesting, so I checked it out of the library. I liked it. It was pretty average, never going to be a favorite of mine, and I'll never re-read it. It actually took me awhile to read it anyways, because I read Water for Elephants all the way through when I was halfway through this book, which I [...]

This started in a promising fashion, but just deteriorates from there. Some of it is really really predictable, and the rest is either boring or very badly written (or both!). None of the plot made any sense. The characters were contrived stereotypical sketches. The "romantic" relationship was anything but (there was no *there* there!). The spoofs of TV personalities were mildly amusing, but that was the sole bright spot. Definitely skip this one.

Congratulations book, I NEVER roll my eyes during kissing scenes but you did it, you made me do it. This book is terrible. Good riddance.

I read this book a long time ago and have been meaning to re-read it for a while. All I remember about this book was that I really enjoyed it. Re-reading it has made me understand the reason why: the humor of this book is hilarious. However, that's the only aspect of the book I seemed to really enjoy. The characters were fun but cliche, especially the main character Kendra who I felt was a typical teenage girl who complained a lot. But hey, I was there too once so I can't judge. The lessons taug [...]

The book was witty and engaging, the story entertaining, although maybe not the most realistic. The only part that truly bothered me was the main relationship developed because of the age difference.

When Kendra Bishop gets fed up with her parents and their extreme rules, she writes to the reality show, the Black Sheep. It’s a show where two teenagers will swap families and America gets to see everything. Kendra gets sent to California to live with a hippie family, and Maya, the other teen, will take Kendra’s place in New York. What she doesn’t know is that with reality TV, nothing is as it seems: the producers can twist and turn and edit everything just for ratings. And just when Kend [...]

I rated this only 3 stars because this book's plot at the beginning was good and clear but towards the end the plot becomes predictable and uninteresting. I can relate and understand the character's feelin

Black Sheep - “a member of a family or group who is regarded as a disgrace to them” (Computer dictionary) Kendra Bishop is not happy with her parents. They have too many rules, in fact they have a whole binder full of them which Kendra calls the BLAH, or Binder of Limitations and Harassment. Plus they are both bankers and expect Kendra to become a banker too, but Kendra doesn’t want to be like her parents. All they do is run marathons and do bank work. When she finds an advertisement for [...]

Reviewed by Randstostipher "tallnlankyrn" Nguyen for TeensReadTooThe only thing Kendra Bishop wanted from her parents was for them to accept her the way she is. Kendra is just not the workaholic, marathon-obsessed, art freak like her parents. She wanted them to notice her a little. But who knew that her wish would sort of come true, when a TV crew shows up on her doorstep, congratulating her for being picked for the new reality show Black Sheep, which takes two unhappy teens and then makes them [...]

Kendra writes a letter to Black Sheep—a reality show that tapes switcheroos between two teenagers—hoping for any kind of escape from her parents and their binder full of rules. Luckily, she is accepted into the reality show and is chosen to switch places with another girl named Maya, who lives in California with her hippy parents. But just weeks into the reality show, Kendra finds herself making a new set of rules—a set of guidelines known to her as Black Sheepism—and she is determined t [...]

Kendra has had it! Her parents have only ever cared about themselves and training her mind. She has never been able to just do fun things that other kids get to do like swimming lessons and parties. She had music lessons and math camp and going to various art museums with her mother (otherwise known as Torture Day). She is just so picked on!!. Then the straw that broke the camel's back, they fired her nanny, Rosa, the only person that truly knew Kendra and let her be a child. So in her fit of an [...]

The Black Sheep by Yvonne Collins is a book great for young adults. I found it enjoyable and in some aspects relatable. I feel I would have enjoyed this book a lot more if I were still 15 and in high school, I would have been able to relate my thoughts a lot more with Kendra, the main character. 15 year old Kendra Bishop lives in New York city with her up tight and strict parents. Soon she gets fed up with her parents and angry, like most teens do, and writes to this show called "The Black Sheep [...]

The Black Sheep was a fun and cute book about a girl realizing who she really is, all while dealing with a nosy producer who doesn't know the meaning of privacy and a messy love life. There was always something going on, whether it was her switch to a new family or dealing with the otters. I found the pacing to be perfect. Kendra starts out as a somewhat snooty Manhattan girl, but throughout the course of the book she develops into a smart girl who isn't afraid to fight for what she believes in. [...]

It's true that Kendra may have gone through many struggles when she established a contract to become one of the stars of a reality show, but I think that she gained some good experiences and learned many life lessons she never would've learned if she hadn't wrote and sent that letter. I'm sure that at some point in our lives we were jealous of our friends' parents because they so different from our own. The whole book is about two families that swap children that learn how to adapt to living a d [...]

This is a very interesting book I encounter this summer. The Black Sheep is a reality TV show where teens who are unsatisfy with their family are able to exchange families with another teen who also want to experience some changes. The main character of the book is Kendra Bishop, her parents are bankers and they are all about money and rules. So when they fired Rosa, Kendra's nanny, Kendra is very upset and she writes a letter to the show. After few months, the producers of the show along with s [...]

Meanwhile the shows evil producer takes great pains to either manufacture anything into a crisis or move the crisis into overdrive. To [...]

my friend Hui Lin recomannded this book to me this summer. By listening to her tone, i can feel how excited the book is. This book is about two teenage girls(Kendra & Maya)who both have problems in their families. Kendra is an only child, who's parents don't pay her any attention. Her parents are hard working bankers, and spend all their free time on running marathons. Maya has five sibblings, who get on her nerves. Maya's parents are hippies, who are very outgoing. Maya just wants some peace, and quiet. Kendra just wants her parents to be more involved in her life. Both teens want what the other has, so why n [...]

When I was reading this bk, it's like I'm riding on a roller coaster of emotions with Kenkra Bishop, except me as an on-looker throughout this bk. It was in fact, more than what I would have expected from this black book.Initially, it was just making up rules & more rules for yourself. But sooner, you'll come to realise that not everything works accordingly to what a bk says. Sometimes, you just have to take the lead.I've learnt & remembered a lot of this bk & felt bad for taking my [...]

Reality TV shows are becoming one of the greatest hits on TV today. So, what would you do if one night a camera crew came into your house and told you that you're going to be the new "Black Sheep"? Well, this is what happens to Kendra Bishop, a 15 year-old teenage girl with overly-protective parents. Unfortuantely, when Rosa, her nanny and friend, gets fired for being "too easy" on Kendra, Kendra writes an emotional letter to an ad in a teen magazine to switch places with another teen and to go [...]

I enjoyed reading The Black Sheep by Yvonne collins because it was good story about a teenager finding themselves. The main character Kendra has parents that are very strict with alot of rules and they very motivated, hardworking people. I related to the main charcter because I also get annoyed of parents rules. I feel the author did good job protraying a teenager. out of frustration kendra writes a letter to a TV show. then gets picked to star in a realty show and gets shipped to california. to [...]

Selected to star in a reality show called "The Black Sheep," Kendra swaps her sterile, rule-bound Manhattan existence for the Mulligan family's hippie-ish and chaotic household in Monterey, Calif where she spends nearly every waking moment being trailed by a TV crew. Despite this lack of privacy, Kendra manages to keep secret her prickly-at-first romance with the Mulligan's eldest son, Mitch, an aspiring marine biologist. Partly to impress Mitch, but mostly because she finds herself truly caring [...]

The Black Sheep is a reality television show that recruits Kendra, a disillusioned teen from NYC, to switch families and stay with an activist family in California. This is a fairly normal romance with several over-the-top characters that gets old pretty fast. This would be a good book for the light teen romance crowd. (KIP)Light reading material - in the category of Princess Diaries. 92 pages into it I was tired of her "poor me" life is so constrained bellyaching. With the remaining nominations [...]

The Black Sheep, a novel by Yvonne Collins, is about an unhappy teenage girl who gets a chance to switch places with a girl in california for a television show, the black sheep. She has mixed feelings about the switch and as it takes place there’s many exciting (and some not so exciting) things, but at the price of the whole event being twisted to make “good” television. I never got bored while reading what appeared to be a rather typical teenage novel, but actually has a pretty creative s [...]
